News
Spreading the good news.

I have long been asking, requesting and generally cajoling members to send in some material for the Bulletin.

I know we might all be aging but I am sure there are things happening in people lives that others would like to hear about.

While as Rotarians we dont use the Bulletin as a commercial market place there will be events that others would be interested in so get those into the editor.

I have started this by including a flyer on Bernardine [my wife's] recent book publication.

We also have a flyer for a coming car and motor cycle show.

Science School

As members will know, we assisted two Pakuranga College students to attend Science School. At some time in the future we will hear from both of those students at a dinner meeting but in advance here is some written feedback from one - Alan.

"I just wanted to thank you and the Pakuranga Rotary Club for giving me the opportunity to go on such an amazing event. It was truly an opportunity of a lifetime and I learnt and grew as a person immensely. The last 2 weeks were filled with endless fun times, lifelong friends, and crucial insight into career paths. There were amazing new people to meet and I experienced so much that made me grow socially and as a leader and I'll miss every second of it for the rest of my life. It was truly exceptional. No words could truly depict my sincere gratitude towards the event and towards the Pakuranga Rotary Club for sponsoring me.

 I cannot thank you enough,

Alan".

The coming Year

After a traditional break for most clubs over January, we launch full into Rotary mode again in February. With most clubs holding a summer project or two, there will be plenty of good stories to be told from these, so please send a photo and a couple of sentences to Editor Mike to publish in next months bulletin or for publishing on the District Facebook site.

Our Oceania Summit 20-22 March is also just over the horizon so take the opportunity to join the the NZ & Pacific Island based clubs in one big opportunity to share ideas, hear from great speakers and sample some of the local Hawkes Bay wines whilst enjoying this great part of NZ.

And don't forget to share the personal benefits you receive from being a Rotarian with friends, colleagues and people you meet in the community. Don't worry if their location doesn't suit joining your club, there are plenty of other clubs around that we can refer them to.
