Rotary on Show at Howick Santa Parade

Pakuranga Rotary, Howick Rotary, Somerville Rotary, Auckland South Rotary, Half Moon Bay Rotary and Botany East Tamaki Rotary joined forces at this year's Howick Santa Parade to show all the good work done in the local community. Be it dictionaries in school, Bangers to Bluff, eradicating polio or supplying Emergency Response Kits to the South Pacific.

With a record 60 floats, the parade was a huge success, and the judges enjoyed engaging with everyone and seeing all the effort our local community put in. It must have made the judges Adele White, John Russell and Richie Barnett's decision difficult.

Lunch at the Village

When President Duncan said he wanted to do things differently during his year, we certainly have had some change. To be honest, not all changes have been accepted by some members but unless we try new things, we won’t know what is successful and what is not. Most things in Rotary now are dynamic and with some possible modifications, we hope to achieve a fulsome future for Pakuranga Rotary.

One of these changes was our Christmas celebration this year on Sunday 16th December. Over 50 participants enjoyed the convivial atmosphere and excellent fellowship for lunch at the Edmund Hillary Retirement Village. We welcomed two new Paul Harris Fellows, Ken Worsley and Nick Loseby who thoroughly deserved the recognition for their Service above Self and their full involvement in Pakuranga Rotary activities. It caught both by complete surprise and it was great to enjoy their reaction to the award bestowed on them.

District Conference 2019

ROTARY DISTRICT CONFERENCE, MAY 10,11,12, 2019 IN NAPIER

Ian Handisides reports that we have 16 Rotarians (32 People) already registered for District Conference at Napier, 10-12 May, 2019 . There is still time to register with a discount if you login before 31 December 2018.

You can find more information about the conference here  (https://rotarydistrict9920.org/page/district-9920-conference-2019) including timetable, accommodation options and guest speakers. You can register for the conference by going directly to the District website. There is a significant amount of interest in this conference and places are strictly limited so get in now!!

If you enter the promo code 'December' and then <Apply> , you will receive a 10% discount on the registration and activity fees.  This offer is only available until the end of December and there are now limited places available with a firm cap on the number of attendees and partners due to venue constraints.

Please note:

You will need your Clubrunner login to register for the conference.  If you have never logged in to Clubrunner before, or have forgotten your password or login information click here for instructions (https://www.clubrunnersupport.com/article/1705-retrieve-login-name-and-reset-password-district), on how to retrieve your username and/or password.  If this fails, talk to PE Bart Signal or Secr Graham Kearns for help.

SATURDAY AFTERNOON at the Convention Centre, Wine Tasting will be on offer. But as you will have plenty of Wine at night, I have organised amazing entertainment for our Club, you will not be disappointed.

A NAPIER PRISON TOUR, only $25 per person. Afternoon Tea will be available.

When registering, you will be asked if you want to accept one of the Conference Options for the Saturday Afternoon. If you would like to join me on a Prison Tour, then don’t reply to one of The Conference Options, just advise me.

THE CHOICE IS YOURS. Also we are booked at the Scenic Hotel Te Pania which is across the road from the Convention Centre. I have a Group Booking for all Pakuranga Attendees, it’s great to be together.

Please advise me once you’ve registered and I will inform the Hotel on your behalf, DO NOT MAKE A HOTEL BOOKING YOURSELF, otherwise we will double up.

Why not consider breaking the Journey and stay Thursday Night in Taupo. I have booked Rooms at The Millennium, also known as Manuals, overlooking Lake Taupo. Please let me know if you are interested.

So please seriously consider attending this District Conference in Napier next May 10-12. This is a wonderful opportunity for Fellowship, not only with our own Members but with other Rotarians from other Clubs.
