With youth suicide regularly in the news it was timely that Monday night’s first speaker, Alex Lovell addressed the club with an engaging and enthusiastic account of his close involvement with a film on the subject.
Alex is half of a production company, Run Charlie, and with a long-time friend is co-producing a short film that grapples with the issues of bullying and youth suicide in a modern South Auckland setting.
Geoff Amos’s long involvement with the Pakuranga Rotary is well known and members were pleased to have Del Johnson present Geoff with two defibrillators for Fiji.
Geoff took the time to outline three issues he believes are important.

Peter Woodcock would love to have a couple of extra helpers at the trivia night this Friday – Pakuranga College 6.00 pm hosted by our Interact Club. We are expecting over 100 students from other clubs. Pizza ‘dinner’ will be provided at 7 pm.
The Rotary BBQ is now installed at Bramley Beach and is operational. Pres. Dave proposes to hold a meeting on site to open the BBQ and invite the sponsors along i.e. The Stevenson Family Trust and also The Howick Local Board. We now wait for some settled weather.

Chris Sattler is CEO of Auckland Seaplanes. Traveling is one of Chris's passions having been to more than 100 different countries, mainly as a tourist but also through his work in the finance industry, where he specialised in airline finance. He was in the German Air Force before going to university. Aviation has always been another passion and finds it great to combine that with working in the finance industry. Ultimately though he and his wife chose New Zealand as the place they wanted to be and are citizens of Aotearoa - the Land of the Long White Cloud.
